Cookerly Public Relations Completes Trifecta at PRSA|GA Phoenix Awards
(ATLANTA – Nov. 10, 2009) Smart, strategic, creative – and award-winning. These are just a few of the attributes that make Cookerly Public Relations successful in the eyes of its clients. Now, with three new Phoenix Awards from the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s 25th annual awards celebration, the agency’s strengths have also been recognized again by its peers. Reflecting not only the considerable effort, knowledge and dedication of the team members responsible for the award-winning work, the awards also represent Cookerly’s agency-wide commitment to excellence in public relations and consistent top-notch performance.
In the Project category, Cookerly took home the:
- Media Relations – Consumer Services (Other) Award for the Sony/Waste Management Atlanta Electronic Recycling Event. Cookerly executed a multi-pronged strategic program to increase the visibility of the Atlanta-area recycling event, which resulted in multiple spots on CNN and all local TV affiliates. Proactive media outreach drew thousands of Atlantans to Turner Field for safe and environmentally friendly disposal of 230,000 pounds worth of electronic devices.
- Editorials/Op-Ed Columns Award for the Op-Ed “Transportation Supply Could Use Less Demand.” With a highly influential placement in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the column from Executive Director Kevin Green of The Clean Air Campaign provided insight on metro Atlanta’s complex transportation management issues and offered solutions residents can implement today to reduce demand on the system.
Topping off the evening was a win in the Program Award for Public Service – Government category for “Get Ready Georgia: Prepare, Plan and Stay Informed,” the public awareness campaign for Ready Georgia, a program of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. Aimed at preparing Georgians for emergencies, Cookerly delivers effective and engaging messages to audiences across the state, motivating them to be ready for the unexpected. This is the seventh time that Cookerly has brought home the Best Public Service Program Award, being a five-time recipient for its work for The Clean Air Campaign, and winning for the State of Georgia’s Litter. It Costs You campaign in 2007.
“Congratulations to all of the members of this team for their hard work and dedication to exceeding expectations,” said Carol Cookerly, president of Cookerly Public Relations. “These awards are another affirmation that when we say we’re among the best in the business, we mean it.”
